It may seem funny to think about the idea of photo boxes in this day and age, but I believe that their role has become even more important given the current state of things.
The days of paying for film to be developed and buying cartridges for our cameras are over. Times have changed, and costs have gone down, making it much easier to snap as many new photos as we please.
As a result, the pictures we've taken from our past are relics of a sort. They bring us back to an era where things were different, and they should be treated as time capsules.
Photographs like these shouldn't just be thrown into a drawer, as dust and aging can easily contribute to their demise. We want to preserve all of the original attributes so that they all show as much life as they possibly can. This can all be achieved with a reliable photo box.
First and foremost, you want to make sure that you buy a sturdy box. Metal corners are advisable, as these can more easily handle the weight of other boxes that sit atop them. There are others that have the ability to connect to other ones via snap, and these could work just as well.
Try to avoid buying any picture boxes that are lined with acidic materials. When your pictures rub against these, the color of them will be altered over time as they sit in the box. Most boxes will proudly advertise that they're free of acid.
This one should go without saying, but the dimensions of the box that you buy should be proportional with the pictures you plan to place inside it. The last thing you want is bent pictures because the container was too small.
From there, it's all about personal tastes and what appeals to you. Find something that you'll enjoy just as much as the photographs you'll be preserving.
