Understanding Crop Mastery for Farmville

by Bob Tucker on January 17, 2010

For all its importance, crop mastery is not an easy concept to grasp in Farmville. Crop Mastery is used for planting the same crop but also leveling up at the same time. Each type of seed in Farmville has three levels of crop mastery, and it is necessary to complete a certain number of successful harvests if you want to achieve these levels. Crop Mastery becomes available to you at level 10 in the game.

Getting crop mastery rewards is like getting ribbons. You get coins and XP each time you advance a level. Once you have reached a mastery level of 3 for a certain crop, whenever you sow that crop, a small possibility exists that the crop can turn into a Premium Crop. A Premium Crop appears a little bit larger than normal crops and has provides XP upon harvesting instead of just coins. The amount of XP and the chance of having a premium crop varies from seed to seed.

After you get to level 3 in crop mastery, you get a mastery sign that you can put in your farm wherever you like. Your sign allows you to crow to your neighbors about your mastery over a particular crop.

So which crops should you try to master? Your style of play and overall goals are what it depends on, just like many other things in Farmville. In order to become a successful Farmville player, you should develop crop mastery skills. Focus on a small number of seeds that you can harvest over an extended period of time. So you'll want to line up your mastery with high-yielding coin and XP crops, such as the various berry plants, like strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. While blackberries are an amazing crop to master later in the game, you need to harvest it many times to get level 3 mastery. You can increase XP more effectively with lush crops like pumpkins and tomatoes, so choose them first for mastery.

Whatever you choose, crop mastery is a fun and exciting way to get more out of your Farmville game. If you want to become an expert for different fruits and vegetables you will need to be diligent and plant often.
